Challenge

This is a challenge between a friend and I. The rules are simple. each one of us submits a new stanza by midnight everyday. Each stanza is 4 lines written in free verse, but the last word of each stanza must rhyme. The challenge lasts until 6 stanzas are completed. The winner is chosen by majority votes. I won't say who started just to avoid any biasness :) The first stanza is below.

(1)
A room all in white
A picture framed in black
The beast gazes sadly
Taunted by its desire

(2)
Loneliness descends
Taunting for a while
In saunters remorse
Fueling the fire

(3)

In barges Anger

His body aflame

He purges Sanity

In an unholy pyre

(4)

The room is alight

In calamitous flames

A symphonic conflagration

Madness its choir

(5)

To the beat of cackles
Unruly creatures assemble
Towards an ominous end
They all conspire

(6)
The beast smiles
Tears of exuberance fall
Ironically oblivious
Consequences will be dire

(7)

Ebony voids

Where eyes should be

Drain his will

Control he does retire

(8)

In one swift motion

The picture is shattered

Shards of glass remain

Where a love was prior

(9)

To avenge his pride

He vows to see her tears

Through words he writ

The world will admire

(10)

His spirit fuses with Ridicule

Sarcasm fills his veins

Thus was born

The Marquis of Satire
